It's that time of year where we sit and reflect on the past 12 months with a mince pie and a brew. It's been a whopper of a year for the team, we've met plenty of new businesses, have watched clients go from strength to strength within their respective fields and 2016 and is looking jam-packed with exciting new projects.... we can't wait to get stuck in.
However, when talking to prospective customers, we found that the same three questions were getting asked over and over again so we thought we'd jot them down here for anyone who might be wondering the same thing.
Responsive designs – what are they and why are they so important?
In April, Google announced that they were going to be penalising websites which weren't optimised for mobiles and tablets because more search engine queries are now done through mobile devices than on laptops. Websites should have responsive designs so that they perform well on any size gadget, are easy to navigate and will provide the user with the information they need.
Our websites have been created on responsive technology for over two years now, so we're ahead of the game when it comes to that. It's included in the price as we see it as an essential feature of a successful website, so you have full peace of mind that wherever your target audience are, by whatever device they are using to search for your services, they are finding a beautifully designed, easy to use website with no fiddly zooming in or out and scrolling to do. And Google will be giving you a huge thumbs up for that... woohoo!
Can I update the website myself?
Yes. Yes yes yes yes yes. Every Nemonet website comes with a Content Management System (CMS) that is so intuitive to use, if you can use a Word document, you can use the CMS to update your website. We'll give you 20 minutes free training so you're a website whizz, but we are always at the end of the phone if you need a hand. That way, you have the option of doing it yourself or asking us to, so you know that when you have a big announcement, are updating your services or have some fantastic new images to add, it'll get done quickly and easily. A regularly updated website will perform better in search results if done correctly, as the search engines can see that the website is being maintained and the business is still active, so it's a useful tool to have.
I need it to rank well in searches, will it?
As you can probably tell from the rest of the post, we are very conscientious about ensuring your website is found easily and rated well by those pesky search engines. No-one can guarantee a number one spot so we maximise your SEO opportunities by ensuring that your website is perfectly set up. We are firm believers of getting your organic traffic right before spending any unnecessary money so using the right words and phrases, preparing pages correctly, linking it to active social media sites and having interesting, helpful content are just some of the things that will put you on the fast track to a good search ranking. There are, of course, paid options available afterwards if you're reaching even higher, but we recommend using all the free tricks first.
If you still have unanswered questions or just fancy wishing us a Happy Christmas too, we'd love to hear from you.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a we wish you, and your business, a prosperous New Year.
